AmArillo Wins Plentiful Water Supply From New System

United Press reports the Missouri river is expected to crest before this afternoon along the Blencoe Iowa to Omaha Council Bluffs corridor. Blair Nebraska notes rising floodwaters encroaching on farms and town lands, with 15,000 residents at risk in Council Bluffs, as farmers move livestock and valuables to higher ground. The river rose over six feet in three days and sits about two feet from flood stage.

Horace Mann School Destroyed by Fire in Quanah

A fire at the Horace Mann school on Quanah's north side destroyed the building around six in the morning. Officials estimate losses at about 15000 dollars and suspect spontaneous combustion in a sore room in the basement as the cause.

Slays Relative After Prayer in Atlanta Texas

In Atlanta Texas on May 12 George Shields knelt in prayer for his brother in law Charley Preston then attacked him. The fight ended when Preston drew a gun and they fired simultaneously both dying. Each left a widow and three children.

Miss Mary Cecilia Anderson of Seattle tied the knot with Norman Jones after two annulments by Superior Judge King. He nullified her marriage to Harry G. Ebbert for having a living spouse and later canceled her union with Everett T. Moore due to minority. The 21 year old met Jones after arriving in San Francisco.

Ex-convict in priest disguise tries to free Joliet prisoners

William Evans a convicted murderer wearing a priest’s disguise drove to Stateville prison with a nitro loaded car and arms to free Harry Funk. He fought guards after attempting to enter and warned them of the explosives. Police suspect Henry Fernekes motives though Evans insists his goal was to aid Funk. An Elke membership car with Harry L. Sullivan’s name was found among his effects.

Aristocrat Charged in Alleged Assault Case

A 34 year old baronet Sir Gerard Maxwell-Willehire was arrested in Farnham Surrey after a young woman accused him of assault. She said he lured her to a dinner dance then attacked her in a wood, bound her to a tree and painted her body with shoe polish before driving away. He faced assault charges and was remanded on bail. The baronet, an actor, divorced Lillian Birtles in 1923 in the United States.

Civic Expert 10 Arrive Tuesday to Aid Amarillo Planning

Fe M Hawsett of New York city planning expert arrives Tuesday by Rock Island from Memphis to aid Amarillo with zoning and planning.
