The condition of C. W. Furr, seriously ill at Northwest Texas Hospital for several weeks, is unchanged and about the same as it has been for the last three or four days, attendants report today.
Brig. Gen. Henry J. Reilly warns that social reform and war do not mix and urges fighting at the front to win. He notes his World War exposure, forecasts of Japan conflict, and critiques English labor limits and Britain’s troop levels, comparing Nazi mobilization with Europe’s workforce.

City manager Austin P. Hancock said Amarillo’s clean up set a record with 442 loads totaling 8 830 cubic yards moved last week. The trash department will continue this week as fewer outside trucks were used to finish removing remaining piles and debris.
The forecast notes slight cooling with no major change in temperatures. The bureau says conditions are under control and temperatures will remain moderate with no significant swings anticipated.
