British flyer H R D Waghorn dies after parachute jump
Flight Lieutenant H R D Waghorn, a celebrated British speed flier and 1929 Schneider Cup star, died at Cambridge Military Hospital after injuries from a parachute jump near Aldershot. He was 27, nicknamed Daisy, and had helped set record speeds in earlier air races. Diamonds from the Netherlands valued at 2,178,000 dollars are noted separately.

Poppy Sale Plans by Women Slated by Legion Auxiliary
Preliminary plans for the annual Poppy Sale were made at a Legion Auxiliary meeting. The sale funds the welfare of disabled veterans and dependents, with increased need as veterans die or are injured.
