Amarillo Teachers Lead Sugar Registration Effort
Amarillo's teachers returned to routine classroom work after two days of sugar rationing registration duties. Since 1940 they have aided war efforts, from selective service to Victory bonds, stamp drives, and community parades. Teachers and students collectively supported bond sales and war savings pledges, with high school groups actively fundraising and marching in parades as the sugar program placed schooling at the center of civil defense.
