Wealth and Title Are No Temptation
Hollywood apartment house manager Wile P. H. Radeline refused a wealthy Italian noble title and fortune citing American citizenship and pride. He would rather earn 35 dollars a week than become a foreign aristocrat, saying wealth would cost him his citizenship. Italian lawyers pursued him but failed to sway his stance. The tale recounts his father, an Italian nobleman, meeting a German French woman en route to America fifty years ago, their brief marriage in Allen Town Pennsylvania, his father returning home, and his mother placing the son for adoption with a Pennsylvania Dutch family who gave him the Radeline name.
