Gold Mining as Industrial Twin to Auto Factories
Miners distinguish country rock from ore bearing rock as skilled engineers outline usable sites. The gold business mirrors an automobile factory with many skilled tasks to extract ore. Ore is screened, waste sand returned as fill, and only gold is lost. Workers drill tunnels, blast with dynamite, and remove ore with power shovels. The operation runs seven days, with top earners $12 to $15 daily, living high above sea level and miles from home. The mine spans 37 levels, 120 miles of tunnels, and a yearly output of 1,400,000 tons of ore. It uses vast timber, hoists, and pumps, delivering $460,000,000 in annual ore value.
