About 170 Amarillo boosters arrived in Lamesa at 6:30 this morning under a severe dust storm. The chamber of commerce arranged meals at four hotels and cafes. Judge C. P. Rogers greeted visitors while Lt Gray flown in with a thousand copies of the Amarillo Daily News.
A two room house at 2300 North West Fifth Street owned by Art Randolph was burned out early this morning. A separate fire last night at 800 West Sixteenth Street in an apartment was put out by chemical apparatus. Two false alarms were reported during the night.
The forecast calls for fair conditions tonight and Friday. Historical highs and lows from a year ago were 75 and 65 degrees. Today’s hourly temperatures show a rise from 66 at 7 a.m. to 79 degrees by 1 p.m.
Rescue efforts surge as thousands are moved from homeland areas after repeated Mississippi River levee breaks. Crests pass Vicksburg, with floodwaters feeding into northeasterly Louisiana and Mississippi, 400 foot wide breaches at Milliken Bend and widening breaks near Winter Quarter and St. Joseph.
The Red Cross flood relief fund reached 7 183 548 this morning an increase of nearly 1 000 000 overnight. National headquarters noted floodwater flow across the backlands filling towns at a rate of about one inch per hour with water pooling at cross roads. Tomorrow it will continue on page two.

Mollie Greenberg aged 15, now wife of her brother Oscar 17, is held as a material witness in his statutory trial. Oscar, raised as Max Cashan by foster family, will be tried next Tuesday. Justice O Keefe remanded Mollie to custody of the children's society.
A Pennsylvania flyer struck an automobile at Gary Indiana killing four occupants. The body of one victim was carried 25 miles to Chicago on the engine before the train was stopped. The crash crew were unaware of the death. The dead were residents of Mart. The Coffee Shop at the Amarillo hotel is famous for food.
Mina Cherry Webb, representing the Diamond Shop, is described as the only truly red-haired contestant for Miss Amarillo. The judging will occur at the Pair theater next Monday night. Webb is noted for her long red curls and lives at 1916 Van Buren Street.
The British seek an official Washington restatement over war debt after Secretary Mellon's letter to Princeton president Hibben.
