Snow sweeps Hereford and northern New Mexico as temperatures drop. Forecasters say light snow and rain will spread across the Panhandle with general rain expected tonight and into tomorrow. Weather officials warn moisture may continue into morning.
Harry Hines appointed chair of the Texas highway commission addresses 150 Panhandle residents at a Amarillo Hotel breakfast. He notes four million dollars allotted for highway work since April with 400000 for Panhandle roads and urges paving main arteries before 1936. He frames highway projects as urgent relief and permanency, citing state conditions and need.

A Borger man named J P Bridges died after a car crash with an oil truck near Electra on May 3. Two other Borger residents Jake Morrow and W M Brashear were critically injured and Deputy Sheriff James Cloud of Stinnett was hurt. An ambulance was dialed to 4311.
A 32 year old writer H Carle Peterson faced murder by arson charges as alienists examined his 3000 page diary. He admitted setting fire to 50 buildings in nine years, describing himself as a fire fiend with a super mind.
Aboard the Pennsylvania at May 3 U P report, the U S Navy began its most momentous war games with combined forces sweeping from San Diego to the Aleutians. Heavy battleships, cruisers, destroyers and two auxiliaries set sail from San Francisco Bay and Puget Sound to practice problem 16 in wartime secrecy.

Berlin reports that Polish Baron Georg Sosnowski, deemed a top European spy by secret police, was exchanged for three German spies. The swap follows Germany discovering two German noblewomen spying for Poland, and involved one Polish prisoner, Frau Theodora Ogorek Drazga, traded for Sosnowski. The deal occurred nine days earlier but was kept secret.
Edward Andrew Davis 52, a longtime Amarillo National Bank teller, died this morning in a local hospital after a brief illness from pneumonia. His funeral plans were not set, with arrangements expected to be announced later. He is survived by his widow, Mrs Rolly Davis, and his mother, Mrs Fanny.
Queen Alia, wife of King Ghazi I, gave birth to a son and heir in Irk. Both mother and child are reported well as celebrations spread nationwide. Alia is the daughter of ex King Ali of the Hedjaz and wed Ghazi on January 25, 1934.
Bronx District Attorney Samuel J. Foley said he would ask the New York Supreme Court to release portions of grand jury testimony to rebut a former juror’s claim that Dr John P Condon could not identify the man who collected the 50000 dollar Lindbergh ransom. The assertion concerns Condon’s testimony about the Lindbergh baby kidnapping.

Constable James A Buckingham testified that a slap prompted him to draw a 38 caliber revolver at a wrestling event in the Armory last night. He aimed toward wrestler Steve Nenoff, causing spectators to dive for cover as an officer removed and later returned the firearm.
