He refuses to return to California, telling the court he would rather serve a year and pay a fine than abandon his pursuit of the operatic star.
President William Green of the American Federation of Labor accused John L. Lewis of the Congress of Industrial Organizations of fanning class hatred and sowing falsehoods among workers. Green spoke to the Senate labor committee in response to Lewis claiming AFL amendments to the Wagner Act were written with manufacturers and labor’s "enemies."
Sen Hiram W Johnson Republican of California urged Congress to stay in session as long as needed to keep the United States out of war. He warned that going to war would yield a dictator to destroy both dictators in Europe, according to remarks before the Senate on May 2.
Frank P. Walsh, chairman of the New York state power authority and veteran labor attorney, died of a heart attack today in front of the State Supreme Court building. The incident occurred as he faced an Amia rilio Shade and Equipment Co matter relating to Venetian Blinds.

Second place and $3 went to Mrs. Robert Burnett for news on orchids at 1911 Monroe Street. Third place and the remaining award went to a caller who provided the recovery of 12 purses from Ellwood Park Apartments.
