Candidates to Speak Tonight for City Office

A packed crowd is expected at 8 o clock tonight in the high school auditorium as all city candidates speak in a final public meeting sponsored by the PTA. Absentee ballots must be filed at the county clerk’s office by 6 pm. more than 30 votes have been cast. The event is open to the public and no fireworks are anticipated.

Ambition to Write Travel Rewarded After 55 Miles

A 12 year old girl who ran away to seek a writing life was found 66 miles from Corbicana in Thornton. She explained she left after being ridiculed for her desire to write books and planned to reach her aunt in Houston. Santa Fe seeks permission for Gray county oil field line

The Clinton Oklahoma and Western and its parent Santa Fe ask the Interstate Commerce Commission to authorize a nine mile track from Heaton to Gray county Texas to reach the Panhandle oil fields. The company plans to finance the project and expects rapid construction and operation after approval.
