Democrats Postpone Jackson Day Dinner In Washington

Democratic leaders in Washington sighed relief as the Jackson Day dinner planned for tomorrow night was postponed due to President Roosevelt’s inability to attend in person. Officials feared a flop without his presence, and thousands had accepted invitations under the assumption he would be there. The nationwide series of dinners will proceed in other cities with Roosevelt addressing by radio from the Potomac between 8:30 and 9 P.M. CST. Terminal velocity figures for American planes are cited, noting dives from 30,000 feet could reach sea level in 20 to 30 seconds.
