Julian Blaine, a Triple A driver, was linked to Hammond Cab despite reports he worked for Triple A only. He posted $500 bond after being charged with negligent homicide in Justice Carder's court for the Northwest Texas Hospital death of Martha Jackson, who died at 6 AM Monday. The collision on West Third Avenue between Jackson and Van Buren left Jackson with two broken legs. Blaine stopped within 20 feet and aided the victim.
Two Moore County Boy Scout troops received charters during a district court of honor at Sunray High School. Troop No 43 of Dunas and Troop No 36 of Sunray were recognized with advancement awards for 18 scouts as local leaders presided.
A University of Toronto student wrote Adolf Hitler suggesting he arrange a war next week to avoid finals and spare students from cramming. The anonymous letter, sent from Berlin, asks Hitler to start war so students could be passed automatically with term grades.
Joan Crawford failed to obtain a divorce from Franchot Tone as Judge Benjamin Scheinman refused to hear the case without the plaintiff present. The court said a divorce action cannot be considered without the plaintiff and the hearing was continued to April 18.
Funeral services for M. H. Spalding Dalhart oil operator who died yesterday in a local hotel will be held tomorrow afternoon at 3 from the First Baptist Church in Abilene. Blackburn- Shaw Funeral Directors transported the body to Abilene. Spalding had lived in Dalhart 12 years and was formerly a farmer and rancher. He is survived by his wife Birdie Spalding two daughters Mrs M L Welch and Evelyn Spalding a brother W H Spalding a sister Mrs Ben F Allen and his father W H Spalding.
KGNC invites the public to a Sunday afternoon community sing led by Homer Rice with Eddie Baumer at the organ. The 200-seat studio in the main station will host an opening broadcast at 4 o clock.
Boundary talks between Hungarian and Slovak commissions collapsed as fighting resumed along the Slovakia Hungary frontier in the Carpatho Ukraine region. Artillery fire erupted in the Lahore River Valley with at least two Hungarian soldiers killed after incursions last week. The Slovak delegation, empowered to settle a pact, refused to accept Hungary's terms without government consultation.
Thieves broke a right door lock at Bryan Motor Freight Lines on Tyler Street and stole a cash box containing 96 dollars in cash and 418.76 dollars in checks totaling over 500 dollars. The box lay in a desk drawer with a broken lock.
Louis Martin Roberts 32 an employee of the State Highway Department was fatally injured last night at 9 30 when struck by a car in Dumas. Driver was W E Martin of Dumas. Survived by his wife Evelyn daughter June and parents Mr and Mrs Ebb Roberts of Oceola Mo. four sisters and five brothers. Funeral arrangements by Boxwell Brothers Funeral Directors.
All boys interested in summer camps are invited to a film showing of Western Life Boys Camp near El Porvenir New Mexico. The event is Wednesday at 7 30 pm at Terry Maxwell 1813 Prospect Terrace. Prof Frank Phillips of the Agricultural Department W T C will present the films. Burford Yates of Dallas leads the camp.
Tom Baldridge aged 61 from Marked Tree Arkansas believed he was dying when he confessed to Deputy Sheriff Mack Howard that he was J H Howard wanted in Oklahoma for murder in 1915 and for killing a guard in 1918 after escaping. He must now return to Oklahoma to serve a 20 year term.
The House coinage committee approved a plan to extend the treasury two billion dollar stabilization fund and the President's authority to alter the dollar's gold content plus treasury power to buy domestic silver. An amendment to strike those provisions was defeated 10 to 7. The panel set Monday for a final vote, asserting the issues are essentially settled.
An officer is brought to a Memphis hospital for treatment while Oklahoma officers travel to Memphis to take custody and return him to Oklahoma.
