Frank R. Phillips head of West Texas State College agriculture department told the Lions Club that four modern inventions hinder youth guidance. He cited the automobile the motion picture radio and modern home appliances as reducing parental oversight and shaping undesirable associations. He added today’s youth still has high ideals and needs vocational inspiration with more opportunities to learn to do things.

Driver Blaine Cleared in Fatal Amarillo Taxi Crash

Julian Blaine, a Triple A driver, was linked to Hammond Cab despite reports he worked for Triple A only. He posted $500 bond after being charged with negligent homicide in Justice Carder's court for the Northwest Texas Hospital death of Martha Jackson, who died at 6 AM Monday. The collision on West Third Avenue between Jackson and Van Buren left Jackson with two broken legs. Blaine stopped within 20 feet and aided the victim.

Two Scout Troops Receive Charters in Moore County

Two Moore County Boy Scout troops received charters during a district court of honor at Sunray High School. Troop No 43 of Dunas and Troop No 36 of Sunray were recognized with advancement awards for 18 scouts as local leaders presided.

Rites Set Tomorrow For M H Spalding

Funeral services for M. H. Spalding Dalhart oil operator who died yesterday in a local hotel will be held tomorrow afternoon at 3 from the First Baptist Church in Abilene. Blackburn- Shaw Funeral Directors transported the body to Abilene. Spalding had lived in Dalhart 12 years and was formerly a farmer and rancher. Fighting Breaks Out Again on Slovak Hungarian Line

Boundary talks between Hungarian and Slovak commissions collapsed as fighting resumed along the Slovakia Hungary frontier in the Carpatho Ukraine region. Artillery fire erupted in the Lahore River Valley with at least two Hungarian soldiers killed after incursions last week. The Slovak delegation, empowered to settle a pact, refused to accept Hungary's terms without government consultation.

Boys Invited to See Camp Films Near El Porvenir

Deathbed confession idled as fugitive returns to Oklahoma

Tom Baldridge aged 61 from Marked Tree Arkansas believed he was dying when he confessed to Deputy Sheriff Mack Howard that he was J H Howard wanted in Oklahoma for murder in 1915 and for killing a guard in 1918 after escaping. He must now return to Oklahoma to serve a 20 year term.

Stabilization Fund To Be Continued Amid Committee Vote

The House coinage committee approved a plan to extend the treasury two billion dollar stabilization fund and the President's authority to alter the dollar's gold content plus treasury power to buy domestic silver. An amendment to strike those provisions was defeated 10 to 7. The panel set Monday for a final vote, asserting the issues are essentially settled.
