County commissioners rejected Dr. George Oyse’s resignation as health officer but granted a leave of absence until his active duty return as a navy lieutenant commander. The vacancy remained unfilled.

Porter Dies at 85 in La Junta Colorado

Mrs. R. J. Porter aged 85 died Sunday at her La Junta home. Survived by six children including Mrs. W. J. Baird of Canyon. Grandchildren Mrs. John L. McCarty and Bill Baird of Amarillo visiting. Funeral set for 2:30 Tuesday at La Junta. A pioneer, she spent two months last summer with daughter Mrs. W. J. Baird in Canyon.

Mrs Grace Roomes of Dumas died last night at a local hospital aged 54 She is survived by her husband J W Roomes daughter Mary Roomes two sons William and Franklin Roomes all of Dumas her mother Mrs Allie Norman and sisters Mrs Mary Lasswell and Mrs Minnie Murray of Neodesha Kan The body is in state at Blackbun Shaw Chapel and will be sent to Neodesha tomorrow Funeral services and burial will be in Neodesha.
