Pearl Dorland repudiates his confession claiming police beat him into admitting murder of Roy Lee during a party on March 6. He insists motive was love for his wife Mrs Dorland who later died by poison at the funeral. Dorland had been under investigation with state police tracing the deaths after the estranged wife’s affair.
The confession reveals Dorland admitting fear of interrogation over the Lee slaying and claiming to have killed himself by his own action. He states he would not have done it had he not been drunk and expresses regret for the crime.
City of Amarillo approves a state ment for Maryland Street improvement from First to Ninth Street including grading curbs gutters and gravel paving.
