City panel rejects courtesy tickets for out-of-town parkers
Amarillo city commissioners rejected a plan to issue courtesy tickets to visitors parked in violation of meters. They said license numbers do not reliably identify Amarillo cars and noted many cars are registered elsewhere. Merchants argued tickets burden out-of-town customers. The panel also passed first reading to ease North East Eighth Avenue setback rules and accepted bids for clay tile sewer pipe and street sign standards.
