A J. H. Harris & Son grocery at 708 East Tenth Avenue was burglarized Wednesday night. A ladder and rope were used to reach the skylight, $600 in cash was stolen from the safe, three revolvers removed, and about $700 in paper currency left hidden in a ledger. No stock was taken. Police found the rear door ajar and the ladder in place. fingerprint photos were taken as investigation began.
S H Wright 43 was critically wounded by an accidental pistol discharge in the yard of Consumers Service Company at 403 Hayden Street. The unnamed weapon fired from clothing, entering the abdomen and exiting near the left shoulder. Wright, formerly Amarillo Furniture Company president, was attended by Griggs Ambulance and local residents before being taken to Northwest Texas Hospital.
In Abilene on March 12, 32 people including 11 women were charged with liquor offenses after a DOJ and local raid of 20 establishments. Ida M. James charged sale or possession of liquor and public nuisances. Three cars used for liquor delivery were seized. Police held many suspects in jail after agents say they bought liquor from several prisoners.

A kerosene explosion and resulting fire in a Duncan Oklahoma home killed five people. The dead include Mrs John Thurlo and two of her children, and Mrs Ed Thurlo with two daughters. The blast occurred as oil was poured from a five gallon can into a kitchen stove. The husbands, brothers employed at a local refinery, were away at the time.
