Mrs Philomena Deal pleaded guilty to letting her dog roam the streets without a muzzle. The magistrate Anthony P Sovarese reduced the fine to one dollar saying half the usual amount was warranted because the dog was missing teeth and blind in one eye.
City Commissioner Joe Jenkins announces plans to seek re election for a second term. He said inquiries prompted the decision and will make a formal announcement at a later date.
Tulsa High School presents a radio program on KGNO at 4 30 Thursday as part of the Know Your Texas Public Schools series. H M Baggarly Tulia teacher will be in charge.
Robert L. Hague longtime vice president in charge of the marine department at Standard Oil of New Jersey died early today in New York. He was survived by his wife. The report also notes a separate item that Chinese has supplanted English as the most popular foreign language study in Japanese schools and universities.
An Amarillo chapter of Optimist International was organized at a noon luncheon. Official charter presentation planned for next Wednesday banquet. Officers elected include Grady Hazlewood president John Fullingim and H H Larson vice presidents James Keelin secretary treasurer Ray Pryor Currie Smyth Lyle Montgomery Carl Hare Bob Wilson directors.
Sheriff Bill Adams denied claims that solicitors for the publication Law and Order claimed official endorsement by Texas peace officers. He noted the correct publication is the Sheriffs Association of Texas Magazine, a nonprofit in law enforcement interest, and urged thorough checks before buying.
The Emerson Drug Company of Baltimore was ordered to file an answer by April 1 to charges that 2,300 bottles of Bromo-Seltzer seized in Atlanta yesterday would be dangerous to health if used per label directions. The seizure occurred at a wholesale druggists warehouse by order of Assistant U.S. District Attorney Isadore Leff.
Amarillo Public Schools will dismiss Friday so teachers may attend the Northwest Texas Conference for Education at West Texas State College in Canyon. Fred Douglas and Patten High School for colored students will not be dismissed as colored teachers do not attend the conference.
Amarillo pianist Esther Johnsson will arrive Saturday afternoon with her mother Mrs. B V Blackwell announcing the trip. She leaves Toronto tomorrow night and is slated to perform with the Amarillo Philharmonic Orchestra here one week from tomorrow.

GOLFER JIMMY MORGAN, shot accidentally by his wife as he entered his San Antonio home through a window, shows marked improvement by March 8. The incident occurred early yesterday and was reported by J H Morgan.
Kansas City market data shows cattle receipts 2,700 with calves 300 and top cattle at 7.00. Texas calf club yearlings $12.73, mixed yearlings $10.65, loads of 800-lb heifers $10.00. Veal and fat cows up to $3.00. Sheep 3,800 with Colorado lambs to shippers $8.95 and other fed to packers $8.25 8.85. Natives down from $8.50.
Mrs Evelyn Nickerson, an authority on style, gave a fashion lecture to Amarillo High School homemaking students today. She spoke at White and Kirk's venue this week about fabric selection and personal presentation.
