The War Department notifies Mrs. James Workman of 1815 Fillmore that her husband Pvt. James R. Workman of the Second Infantry was wounded in action in Luxembourg on January 21. He has served since October 1942 and overseas since November 1943. his wife works at the Pantex Ordnance Plant.

Ex-Convict Sentenced for Attack on Girl in Revival Tent
Beaumont police say Ser van Ellis Landry an ex convict was sentenced to 40 years for the assault of a nine year old girl in a revival tent last November 4. The victim's mother lunged at Landry as he was led from court but was restrained by her husband and a bailiff. Landry pleaded guilty to charges of waylaying and assaulting the girl in the revival tent.
Actress Una Merkel Gassed As Mother Dies by Own Action
New York report says actress Una Merkel Burla was overcome by gas in a hotel apartment early morning as her mother Mrs Arno Merkel aged 70 died, apparently by suicide. A night deskman found the scene after smelling gas. a towel blocked the door. Merkel was revived and hospitalized in good condition.

Five hundred vehicle owners in Potter County bought 1945 license plates yesterday setting a new record. Tax assessor Frank Hoyt remained optimistic about steady sales though by noon fewer than 100 purchases had been made today and about 3,600 owners have bought plates overall.
