Towboat Natchez Sinks After Eddy Halts River Run
The 757 ton Natchez sank on the Mississippi River near Greenville after a bridge strike during a routine removal of barges. Thirteen crew members survived while twelve, including Capt. Jimmie Browkinsill, were missing or believed dead as river conditions were described as the severest in years. Rivermen reported the vessel went under in about eighty seconds and rescue teams worked under powerful lights to recover survivors.

Albuquerque police seek Mrs. A F Van Horn a 74 year old missing woman scheduled to arrive in Albuquerque yesterday morning on a TWA flight from Los Angeles. Authorities note conflicting travel details and a lack of description beyond age as 74 with no local listing for her husband Lynn Van Horn of Amarillo. Phillips Buys Top Show Calf In Amarillo Sale

Fort Worth Midway Airport funds cut in House vote

Houston Press telephoned Prague and spoke with Sim Smithy, a 23 year old former Rice Institute and UT student, about the Red seizure of Czechoslovakia. Smith described terror sweeping the country, widespread anti Communist sentiment, and a Prague under Communist control after the February 25 coup, with police and prisons under party influence and a non violent revolution using armed workers. He plans to depart for Geneva then return to the United States.
