A blaze in Joinerville, started when a hotel guest upset a gasoline can, destroyed twelve business blocks. The fire ripped through flimsy frame buildings, including restaurants and domino halls, cutting power to the water works and severing telephone lines, delaying alarms.
A bright sun and mild temperatures drew large forenoon crowds to Amarillo's first annual Fat Stock Show. Baby beef and swine entries were judged, swine sales completed, and Hereford breeders dominated interest as Col. Fred Reppert of Decatur opened the Panhandle Hereford Breeders Association fifteenth annual sale with 66 head of registered Herefords auctioned.
Pete Moore 24 a Tucumcari cowboy was shot dead early today at the Terminal Hotel by Will Slim Moore a porter. The porter later claimed self defense though witnesses called the shooting cold blooded. District Attorney Thomer son urged a grand jury probe as officers secured the scene and the gun.

Benita left a diary hinting at the family’s troubles and a letter to Referee Samuel Seabury seeking testimony about alleged framing.

Ross Sterling approved a capital offense kidnapping bill and hearings on West Texas mineral rights, oil-pipeline earnings, labor, and land title validation drew crowds.
Alfred E. Smith drew a sharp line between discussion and adoption of policy as Democrats debate prohibition in the party national committee meeting. He warned that discussing all public questions is essential and questioned whether policy should rest with the committee or the national convention.

The Phillips Pipeline Company began service yesterday on a 681 mile eight inch line from Borger to Wichita Kansas with plans to extend to St Louis. The line will become the longest Texas origin and second longest in the nation upon completion and will carry 10 million gallons of gasoline at an estimated cost of 15 million dollars.
President Hoover signed the veterans hospital bill in Washington, finalizing a $20.8 million program after Senate House conferees failed to merge differing bills. Representative Luce of Massachusetts moved the House to recede, citing filibuster proof of broad support for hospital allocations. A $5 million initial work appropriation was also adopted, sending the measure to the Senate.
In New York on March 4 heavy selling hit the market in the early hours. Railroad shares led losses with declines of 2 to 7 dollars a share as volume overwhelmed trading and several issues fell 3 to 7 dollars. Atchison, New York Central, Union Pacific, St. Louis San Francisco, Southern Railway and Baltimore and Ohio dropped. U S Steel, Du Pont, American Telephone and North American also declined by at least 2 dollars.
The Black and Gold Revue presents its final show at the Municipal Auditorium tonight with a matinee this afternoon. Tickets cost 50 to 76 cents and include a free ticket for the same price seat. The program features beautiful dancers, vaudeville acts, and acts by Dorothy McFarland from Lubbock plus a silent magician billed as The Gay Deceiver.
Recommendations for the summer camp will be made at the Amarillo Girl Scout Council meeting this afternoon at 5 o clock. A new secretary will be elected to replace Mrs. J M Brooks who moved to Wichita Falls. The quarterly court of awards will be held Friday night at Polk Street Methodist Church.
