A light to moderate snowfall spread across the Texas Panhandle and eastern New Mexico, with Texline receiving about an inch and Tascosa around three quarters of an inch. The storm stretched from the Panhandle to upper Michigan, delaying trains and halting some plane service while milder weather was forecast for the next day.

Blizzard the porcupine attacks Amarillo area again

A porcupine nicknamed Blizzard terrorizes the Amarillo region for three months. His latest act killed a family dog owned by the A. Blankenships near Palisades State Park after quills tore flesh during attempted extraction. Rangers named him Blizzard after a snowstorm capture.

Kidnaper Intermediary Held in Katz Child Abduction

Charles Mitchell and Sol Schwartz were arrested as the intermediaries in the kidnapping of four year old Michael Katz of Brooklyn. Nellie Resnick, Schwartz’s sister, was held on withholding information. The suspects confessed and faced kidnapping charges while Resnick faced a felony charge. The motive cited was recovering $6,600 in racing losses from George Katz after a $180 ransom paid for the boy’s release.

Braniff Airways announced a revised Dallas to Amarillo schedule with an 8:22 A M departure now reaching Amarillo by 11 A M. The 9:15 A M flight time was shortened to 11:00 A M.
