Six Amarilloans joined coast artillery at Fort MacArthur and Fort Bliss. others entered cavalry field artillery and infantry. NYA Workshop Moves to New 60 by 60 Foot Shop

The National Youth Administration workshop in Amarillo moves tomorrow to a new 60 by 60 foot building at Twelfth Avenue and Jackson Street. Supervisor A J Gamblin says space and machinery will expand, with over 30 youths currently employed and plans to double. Wages range from 16.20 to 20 per month as youths advance to class A, and new machinery worth over 2500 will be put to use as operations widen to sheet metal, arc welding, acetylene welding and forging. The move begins July 1 with full setup by July 5, and local officials expect continued support from the city and Amarillo Junior Chamber of Commerce. An invitation is extended for Amarillans to visit and watch the boys work.
