City Land Sold At Word Ranch Near Amarillo
Six sections totaling 3864 acres at the Word Ranch, 20 miles southwest of Amarillo, were sold by the city to J Paul Craig for 15 75 an acre. Two other bids were considered including Bill Me Spadden at 1541 an acre. The city retains water rights and three and a half sections of the original ranch. Proceeds go to bond purchases or water works funds. The sale followed a May 26 bid process and earlier sale of 20 nearby acres to the American Smelting plant for 522 50.
