New Airplane Motors Aiming To Speed Up Flight Market
York reports two new aircraft motors slated for rapid adoption. The Packard X twelve cylinder engine may push planes to 100 mph and produce 1250 horsepower, shown to Colonel Lindbergh. A compact 3650 hp Curtiss engine promises far greater efficiency than Wright Whirlwind, potentially shortening transatlantic time. The Navy Aeronautical Teal plans to test an innovative speed-record motor for Lt Williams' Fos aircraft project.
