Billy Stephens eight year old son of George F E Stephens a telephone lineman drowned Wednesday afternoon in a shallow tank at Clyde near Abilene while the mother and others attended a canning demonstration at Mrs S G Sherrill's home. He wandered away, was missing for half an hour and found in the tank. Efforts to resuscitate failed.

Explosion destroys home. youth killed in Sedalia blaze
A blast and ensuing fire at the home of G. F. Copas in Sedalia Missouri destroyed the house. Firemen found the charred body of 19 year old Elmer Starke a produce house worker. Two unidentified youths were seen fleeing the scene prior to the explosion. Copas and his wife and daughter Velma had left for California to visit relatives. The cause of Starke’s presence in the house remains unknown.
