London reports Maj. Clement R. Attlee disclosed that the Big Three meeting will be held in Berlin. Attlee, former deputy prime minister and Labor opposition leader, said he accepted Churchill's invitation to attend the prospective conference in Berlin.
Manila bureau reports Japanese troops abandoned Brunei city and Australian forces occupied it without resistance five days after the Northwest Borneo invasion began. Allied air strikes hit Hong Kong, Saigon, and Balikpapan as Philippine bombers struck targets in Indochina.
