Mayor says an ordinance banning sale and use of fireworks within city limits will be introduced at tomorrow morning’s city commission meeting. Officials cite national figures on fireworks deaths and injuries. The session will also consider bids for 13 automatic traffic signals at key intersections citywide.
The Potter County WPA sewing room will reopen tomorrow morning at 1901 West Sixth Avenue in the former canning plant building. Building owner Bob Ames offers free use of the space. Three hundred fifty women are assigned. 102 machines will be used after a June 4 fire destroyed equipment. D. Boye is superintendent.
County Commissioner John Winters, hospitalized for several days, is back at his home on Palo Duro Street. Mrs Winters says he can sit up for periods each day and is improving steadily.

Word was received of the death of C D Munday at a hospital in San Antonio after a two month illness. His wife and son Lowell were en route to his bedside. Funeral arrangements awaited Mrs. Munday's return to Amarillo and the arrival of son J M Munday from Columbus Ohio. Mr Munday had lived in Amarillo nearly twenty years.

Mrs. Howard Hamilton, visiting her sisters Mrs. Bert ram Jackson and Mrs. Ben Burkett, has left for Dallas to join her husband, a Bee ville banker. From Dallas they will travel to Chicago for a vacation trip.
D. W. Owens and C. A. Mackey stayed in Potter County jail in lieu of $1,000 bonds after burglary charges were filed Monday. The pair were accused of burglarizing the Continental Oil Company service station at Sixth Avenue and Jackson Street. Owens was on federal probation.
W A Jennings, 27, Amarillo, found guilty of robbery by firearms in 192nd District Court in Boston. He received a five year prison sentence for the DeKalb Texas theft on February 22 in which 240 dollars was taken from Mrs Bud Littrell. Co defendant M Ferris, 27, Dallas, posted 5000 bond and failed to appear for trial. Jennings has a long Potter County jail record under various aliases.
W. F. Farwell, state manager for the Emergency Crop Loan division of the Farm Credit Administration, Dallas, is visiting Amarillo and northwest Texas. He attended a meeting in Lubbock Monday with local loan supervisors to discuss new wheat loans and collections.
Mrs. Champ Clark 82 widow of former House speaker died at the home of her daughter Mrs. James M Thompson in New Orleans on June 15. She was mother of U S Senator Bennett C Clark of Missouri.
Houston report says warning taxi driver James A. Murgrove not to pick up riders near the Rice Hotel during a strike. Two men beat him, shot holes in his gas tank, and set his car on fire today.
Casualty Underwriters Company files suit in the 108th District Court to overturn the Industrial Accident Board ruling that awarded Albert L. Smith compensation of 13.60 per week for 401 weeks for injuries from an accident on January 20, 1937. Smith, employed at Snow White Dairy, was injured while traveling to Oklahoma with a fellow dairy worker. the other man died.
Sir James M. Barrie the author and playwright was reported to have a fair night and his progress maintained amid bronchial pneumonia. Doctors issued the bulletin from London on June 15.
