Moody Withdraws From Texas Governor Race
In Austin on June 10 the state Democratic executive committee certified 54 state office candidates while former Gov. Dan Moody was dropped from the governor ballot after announcing he would not run. Gov. W. Lee O'Daniel remains a candidate as Moody cites no public office ambitions and a desire to keep his law career. Moody had been urged by Williamson County supporters to run but chose not to, saying duty did not require him to leave his profession. The convention will be held in Mineral Wells on Sept. 10 to set nominees, adopt a platform, and elect a new executive committee.
