Mrs. Oscar N. Womack, 30, after leaving a farewell note for her husband, climbed an eighth floor fire escape at the Herring Hotel and fell to death as onlookers watched. Despondent over ill health, she left behind a note and her coat snagged on the railing during her plunge.

Tragedy as 2-year-old Ella Mae Rhoades dies in city crash
A two year old, Ella Mae Rhoades, was killed when a head on collision at Third Avenue and Kentucky Street involved her mother Mrs. George Rhoades and other passengers. Sam Vaden drove the second car, both drivers escaped serious injury. The Rhoades family and Mrs. Herbert’s niece were hospitalized with injuries. The body was taken to Boxwell Brothers chapel.
