Missouri River levels rose with torrential rains as two lightning deaths occurred in Missouri and a bus accident near Abilene, Kansas injured two. In Texas Dallas reported light showers breaking two weeks of heat while Fort Worth Wichita Falls Abilene and other towns recorded varying rainfall amounts and hail.
William Dagger Pruitt walked to the electric chair at Huntsville prison amid calm narration by reporters. He denied killing 17 year old William Mann of Dallas, accepted Father Finnegan’s aid, and asked to say goodbye to his mother as the execution proceeded.
Amarillo city officials report renewed telegram exchanges with State Highway Dept and Gibb Gilchrist over three quarter mile concrete paving project. Durham notes bids and specs copies were sent, asks expedited action amid state aid no appropriation and technical delays in Texas contract letting.
Grayson County Texas ends courthouse tension after a mob incident as officers abandon the search for an unidentified negro who approached a farmhouse and frightened children. The drifting suspect, described as a harmless vagrant, eluded a small posse during the chase near Bells.
Bombay reports say 300 police with lathis and 50 armed officers surrounded the All-India National Congress head monastery and searched the premises. Six Bombay committee members including President Joshi were arrested amid a civil disobedience campaign.

Offenders include both sexes and various ages, with some claiming no need for stolen items. Prices and punishments vary from reprimands to heavy fines.
In Biloxi Mississippi 3500 Confederate veterans led a five mile parade closing their 40th reunion with civic and military units and the US Marine Band. They voted unanimously against a joint reunion with the Grand Army of the Republic unless the Stars and Stripes carry condition is removed.
Mexico City reported the 1980 census puts the population at 16,404,030. The May 16 count notes a gain of about 2,000,000 since 1921, per the census board statement released today.

Eleven of seventeen men charged with rioting in the mob murder of Henry Argo Negro assault suspect are jailed in Chickasha Oklahoma. George W Skinner a farmer and husband of Mrs Angle Skinner is named in the complaint. Skinner admitted stabbing Argo after he was shot by a mob member.
The extreme heat that gripped the East for four days began to ease in the North Atlantic Seaboard and New England. Additional heat prostration cases and several deaths were reported, including three in New York City, while Chicago expected cooler weather after late thunderstorms flooded northside streets and caused a sharp temperature drop.
The Federal Farm Board plans a stabilization corporation to purchase millions of bales of cotton. Backed by a loan of about 50 million dollars at low interest, the new firm will be patterned after the grain stabilization group. The move follows a cotton advisory committee report warning of an emergency amid a 1930 surplus and low prices.
