Tax Office Space Denied in Municipal Auditorium
City commissioners denied leasing space in the Municipal Auditorium for the school tax office. Dick Bivins, school board president, was notified of the decision. The plan had proposed relocating the tax offices to the auditorium south wing to coordinate with city tax offices. County officials said the current school tax department and business office in the courthouse must be vacated. A separate note reports Wallace leaving Amarillo High School for Enid, Oklahoma, for the summer to stay with his mother. Also mentioned is a line about the nation’s forests totaling 176 million acres.
