Acquittal in Brownlee Show Murder Case at Conroe
Durrell Kendall, a Mississippi projectionist, is acquitted by a jury in Conroe Texas of the murder of L H Brownlee head of a minstrel show. The verdict followed a first ballot and the case involved the slaying of Brownlee and Martha Smith in New Caney. The noon accident near Amarillo claimed the life of 16 year old Herman Selby, and 17 year old Thomas Gibson witnessed the incident. The Selby boy died after being struck by a moving Santa Fe freight car near Thirty Fourth Avenue crossing. Relatives survive the two youths and the body was handled by N S Griggs & Sons pending word from kin.

Death of Rev. George J. Irvin Head of Amarillo Presbyterian Home
Rev. George J. Irvin 65 longtime superintendent of the Presbyterian Home for Children in Amarillo died at Northwest Texas hospital after a chronic appendicitis attack. Funeral at Central Presbyterian Church tomorrow at 4 pm with burial in Llano cemetery. Survived by widow Margaret Irvin two daughters and three brothers. The home opened in 1924 and has served hundreds of children. Irvin was praised as a capable administrator and minister in the Northwest Texas Methodist conference.

Texas Railroad Commissioner Lon A. Smith and R. D. Parker opened hearings on whether the Canadian River Gas Company takes a fair share of gas from 98 242 acres in the Panhandle field owned by the R B Masterson estate. The estate says 22 percent is taken while the company claims 9 percent. Past four years show 34 billion cubic feet produced with gas routed to Denver Chicago Amarillo and South Plains Texas. Two auto loads of veterans departed Amarillo yesterday for a concentration point in the bonus march. Floyd Sloan of the American Legion said he knew only what former servicemen told him. Carrie Nation of Hanson post condemned the march while W. Birge of the local VFW was unavailable for comment. It was reported that about 200 veterans mobilized at El Paso would pass through tomorrow to join others en route to Kansas City.
