The famed Amarillo cook known as Mother Overton, age 80 and living in Colorado Springs, will miss ceremonies for a Silver Grill expansion she helped found. Her legendary recipes, especially pastries, shaped the first Silver Grill in Colorado Springs over 30 years ago and remain central to the chain. Her son Dewey Ashcroft recalls her high culinary standards and that she kept customers equally welcomed as friends at the original Amarillo site and beyond.
