Certificates to be awarded at city traffic school
Certificates of attendance will be given Friday morning to city employees who have completed the work in progress traffic school. The 11:30 a.m. ceremony will be at San Jacinto Methodist Church, where classes are held. The Amarillo Police Department and the National Safety Council sponsor the school conducted by J. Emond of Chicago. Neal Lowe, 194 Maryland, is vacationing in Florida.

Pedestrians Subject to Uniform Traffic Code Rules
Pedestrians face regulated rights and duties under the Uniform Traffic Code enacted by the Texas Legislature. The act, effective Sept. 6, requires pedestrians to obey signals, use crosswalks, yield to vehicles away from crosswalks, and walk on the right side of the sidewalk or left side of the road where no sidewalk exists. Drivers must exercise due care, warn pedestrians, and avoid passing stopped vehicles aiding crossers. Hitchhiking is prohibited.

James E. Hall of 1604 Hughes participates in a two week Naval Reserve training cruise in the Caribbean aboard the destroyer USS English. He studies gunnery drills battle problems and latest developments in Naval equipment as an apprentice seaman aboard the ship.

Pioneer Begins Cargo Service Across Nation
Pioneer Air Lines launches cargo service August 1 with 21 cents per ton mile average rate and low joint rates with other lines. Harding Lawrence says shipments over 200 pounds or large sizes require advance arrangement. Yellow Cab & Baggage Co. handles pickup and transfer in Amarillo.

Missing Shrimp Boat Mil dred L Found Safe at Matagorda
The shrimp boat Mil dred L and two fishermen aboard were found safe at Matagorda after being overdue since July 25. One fisherman is William J. La Roche, 35, of Freeport. Owner J. W. O Berry told Lt Wayne McElroy of the Galveston Coast Guard station that the crew were located in Matagorda. Navy ships aided the search.
