Palo Duro Canyon Becomes Panhandle Camp Ground
The Palo Duro canyon spanning Armstrong and Randall counties is becoming a regional camp ground. From July 19 to 29 the Northwest Texas Conference Girls camp, led by Mrs. Tom C. Deleney, will host about two hundred girls aged 14 to 20. Beginning August 1 the Panhandle Baptist assembly arrives for a ten day meeting attended by seven to eight hundred Baptists. Local Boy Scouts, art classes from Canyon Teachers College, and tourists also frequent the canyon, which highways already designate as a key scenic point between Trinidad Colorado and Galveston Texas. A movement seeks a road through the canyon to showcase its beauty to north and west Texas travelers.

Dutch Ed Horgan Falls To Street Gangster Code
New York City crime note outlines the death of Dutch Ed Horgan shot through the head near Avenue A after allegedly squealing on a fellow gangster. The column recalls similar slayings as the “gangster’s code” maintains brutal discipline and references figures like Young Johnny Spanish and others. It also touches on waterfront views at the Battery and a dated social note about Panhandle Laundry’s three thousand telephone number in Amarillo, plus local notices about the Richards and Chandler families.
