Hanson Post No 54 of the American Legion plans to capture the 1926 Ninetieth division reunion for Amarillo. Delegates to the state convention in Brownwood August 18 to 20 will be elected Tuesday night as post commander J C Sebastian and colleagues map efforts to secure the 1926 gathering.
Reduced rates of one and one third fare for round trip tickets to the West Texas Farm Congress have been granted on all roads serving Amarillo. The congress will be held August 21 with several hundred farmers expected. Sponsored by the Texas Wheat Growers association, Texas Sorghum Growers association, and the Amarillo Board of City Development. Fort Worth and Denver officials said the reduction supports regional farm development.

Senator nominees are Morris Sheppard John Maddox Harris County and Fred W. Davis Austin. Mrs Miriam Ferguson seeks governor amid anti klan sentiment with Felix Robertson said to have Klans endorsement. Other governors candidates include Lynch Davidson T W Davidson W A Collins W E Pope Joe Burkett George W Dixon Thomas D Barton. Four men seek lieutenant governor. Edwards traveled statewide without public speeches. State offices show no opposition for Terrell treasurer and Marrs superintendent.
In the sheriff contest Less Whitaker seeks a second term with Wiley Pollard John Speed and C A Herbert as rivals. Lloyd Fletcher seeks a second term as district attorney with W F Nix Henry Ford B G Puntney and H K Stanfield as County Attorney candidates. H F Randolph associate justice of the civil court of appeals is listed among filings.
Texas Rangers Capt. F A Hamer and Sergt J B Wheatley arrived in Amarillo to assist the Hobart murder investigation alongside District Attorney Lloyd Fletcher and Sheriff Less Whitaker. They interviewed Ruth Hobart and said the case is complex with no new key evidence yet disclosed.
A federal grand jury indicted 36 people from Jacksonville to Washington in a liquor ring spanning months. The scheme allegedly routed Florida liquor to Washington, with protection by railroad, police, and government officials. A capias for arrests was issued.
United States Congressman Marvin Jones told the American Business club that tariff increases of 25 to 75 percent were caused by a recent congress bill. He said tariffs rob the poor, aid the rich, and harm foreign markets, urging a reduction now to foster a competitive world market based on merit.
Orin Jackson, 21, of Vega, roderover horse stumbled, breaking left leg below knee. He dragged himself more than a mile and a half through Vega pasture from 6 p.m. Wednesday until 8:30 a.m. Thursday when twin brother Ones found him. He was brought for X rays and is reported doing well.
