Minneapolis truck raid tests city strike line

In Minneapolis a convoy of two trucks escorted by 40 armed policemen broke a two month old strike by delivering groceries to stores. Strike leaders William Brown and Vincent Dunne warned of a general strike if the movement widens. Two rioters had died in earlier protests while police vowed trucks would move.

Auto Crash on Bridge Fatal to Man and Baby

A head on sideswipe on Highway No 1 eleven miles east of Sweetwater killed Ike Northcutt and his year old granddaughter Arlie Dolores Northcutt. Four relatives were injured including Mrs G Wesley Northcutt and two daughters Ruby Faye and Eula Mae. The family and victims were en route to a Nazarene encampment in Waco when the crash occurred. Sam Bellew of Crosbyton drove a truck and could not avoid the collision. The injuries ranged from possible internal injuries to a broken hip and a crushed skull in the infant. The mother in law and others remained in critical condition at Trent and Abilene hospitals. The driver of the truck, Bellew, was traveling with a loaded trailer.

Miller case bond set at ten thousand nine hundred dollars

Dolores Miller 34 faced murder charges in the death of her husband Lee R. Miller 60 at their North Johnson Street home. Bond was set at $10 090 by Justice of the Peace Bob Clark after she waived a preliminary hearing and was bound over to the Potter County grand jury meeting August 28. She told authorities I dont want to cost the county any extra expense and admitted killing her husband.

Man shoots woman then kills himself in Beaumont case

Miss Peggy Posey was shot and critically wounded by an admirer who killed himself after leaving a note. The shooter was C. J. Taylor, a Dallas salesman. His Dallas wife was notified and asked undertakers to inform a sister in Riglay, Tenn. Posey’s quarrel with Taylor was noted. she was expected to recover.

Defense Plea Wins Acquital For Police Dog

Teddy the German police dog was acquitted of slaying a pedigreed Pomeranian in a justifiable dogicide verdict by Justice John C. Loucks in Grand Rapids Michigan. The court ruled Teddy acted in self defense after the dogs met in mortal combat.
