A 57 year old Pleasant Valley man was in poor condition at Amarillo Osteopathic Hospital with a gunshot wound in the stomach. W L Granger of 106 East Cactus was taken by ambulance about 10 a.m. after being shot with a 20 gauge shotgun. Potter County deputies say the body apparently shot himself.

Mother's slaying husband charged in Amarillo case
A 28 year old mother Juanita Felipita Garcia was killed in a park lot shooting in South Amarillo. Her 40 year old husband Hilario Garcia a staff sergeant at Amarillo Air Force Base is charged with murder and held in Potter County jail awaiting grand jury action. The infant daughter delivered 10 minutes after the shooting remained listed as critical at Northwest Texas Hospital. The couple was estranged and witnesses said Garcia grabbed a pistol from the car before the fatal shot. Funeral services were held for Mrs Garcia and she is survived by two daughters and other relatives.
