The Texas House adopted a Ford resolution directing the attorney general to begin an immediate investigation of all oil industry branches to determine violations of anti trust and restraint of trade laws. Rep. J. B. Ford of McGregor led the action by a 76 to 43 vote, with debate on funding from legislative contingent expense. Atty. Gen. Alfred is expected to file anti trust suits based on findings and has sought a $30 000 appropriation to support the work. No Senate action is required at this time.
Radio crooner Rudy Vallee and his bride Fay Webb began their honeymoon but rushed home when Vallee’s mother Mrs Charles A Vallee fell critically ill. He arrived at the Vallee home in Westbrook Maine and was with her when she died yesterday.
George Endres and Alexander Magyar, Hungarian officers, landed the monoplane Justice for Hungary near Biscke 15 miles from Budapest after flying from Harbor Grace Newfoundland to Detroit then across the Atlantic. The voyage covered about 4,500 miles with the second leg about 3,400 miles. The flight aimed to call attention to Hungary's grievances under the Trianon Treaty.
Forecast shows unsettled conditions tonight with partly cloudy skies on Friday. West Texas expected to be cloudy with possible showers in extreme east and north. A delegation of real Indians from six tribes arrives in Amarillo on Thursday June 23 to promote the First American in Albuquerque August 18 to 21. A two hour ceremonial program will be staged at Jack Hall ranch beginning 7:30 PM with a Hopi band and Native dancers, free to the public.
Westbound air travelers spent the night in Amarillo. Mrs. Harold Gatty and Dr. Arthur Torrance joined a Globe reporter for breakfast at the Heyting Hotel. Gatty has fame from the Winnie Mae around-the-world flight. Torrance is a noted explorer with the Tropical Medical Institute of California.
Four on duty at Brooks Field die in midair collision four miles south of the base. Maj. Charles Hart, Capt. Carlos Chamberlain, 2nd Lt. K Austin Rogers, and Cadet Endicott Longacre perished. Hart was a flight surgeon and pilot, Chamberlain trained to be a flight surgeon, Rogers instructed pilots, Longacre a basic course cadet. The crash occurred at about 300 to 400 feet as the two planes collided in flight and plunged to the ground. An ambulance was summoned from the field after witnesses reported the event.

Traders at the Chicago Board of Trade turned optimistic as wheat futures rebounded after an odd session that saw prices fall to a record low of 50 1 4 cents a bushel. The market closed higher than the previous day for the first time since July 7, raising hopes that rock bottom had been reached and a rally could follow on any hopeful news.

He testified during hearings on a proposed 15 percent freight rate hike emphasizing that traffic has fallen and current rates threaten credit and ability to meet fixed charges.

Oklahoma City July 16 F C Hall, wealthy oil man who sponsored the world flight of Wiley Post and Harold Gatty, announced he would back another world flight to break the Winnie Mae record. Post and Gatty, in New York, would not be asked to participate.
Mason King of the Swisher County Chamber of Commerce sent word inviting participation in the fortieth annual Swisher County anniversary celebration at Tulsa. Officials hope for at least twenty cars in the autocade with reporting at Polk Street and Fifth Avenue at 8:30 tomorrow morning. The Tulsa event will reunite old settlers and welcome newcomers with entertainment, and the Amarillo delegation will return late tomorrow evening.
