The European debt crisis grows as Hindenburg returns to Berlin to stabilize finances and keep banks open for mid month payrolls. London and Paris digest the Hoover moratorium plan while Britain, France, and Italy reassess German reparations amid the looming Young Plan linkage.
Premier Mussolini and the Fascist directorate call the Vatican note on youth fascism a lie and denounce a Vatican Masonry alliance. They pledge to mobilize 1,515,000 members—873,000 adults and 642,000 youths—on the Piave front to defend fascist revolution. The directorate objects to the Pope’s oath criticism and vows vigilance against Masonry and liberal remnants.
In Rome Premier Mussolini tells United Press the United States is the most powerful nation and key to the 1932 disarmament conference. He says Hoover moratorium proposals are only a first step and that the conference would fail without U S participation. The interview follows Stimson talks in Paris and Berlin as European economic tensions rise.
The Texas House defeated on a test vote Rep. Lee Satterwhite's resolution for a sweeping oil industry investigation by 64 to 61 and then tabled it on a later 64 to 62 tally. The measure aimed to probe monopolistic control and market manipulation with potential two thirds support required for immediate effect. Also first soil and oil conservation bills arrived in Austin with Hornsby proposing price fixing tied to gasoline and pipeline terms, enforceable by $500 daily penalties.

Funeral services were held for Miss Blanche Hortense Abramson 24 daughter of Mr and Mrs B Abramson at Temple B Nas Israel. She died yesterday following complications from an operation. She was active in the Amarillo Little Theater and once ran a book shop. The family has lived in Amarillo 20 years. Burial took place at Liano Pantheon with pallbearers including Joe Josephson Charles Kligman and Morris Levine.
Thomas J. Houston, past potentate of Edinah Temple Chicago, was elected imperial potentate of the Ancient and Arabic Order of Nobles of the Mystic Shrine. He succeeds Esten A. Fletcher of Damascus Temple Rochester New York. Walter D. Cline of Wichita Falls Texas was elevated from Outer Guard to Captain of the Guard. Griggs ambulance Phone 4411.
Albert B. Fall, 70, ill and aged, awaits a year and a day sentence. The Santa Fe, New Mexico penitentiary was chosen by Attorney General Mitchell for his confinement after Justice Bailey added a day to his term. Fall, ex senator from New Mexico, was convicted in 1929 of taking a $100000 bribe tied to Elk Hills leases. He said he did not know when he would depart for Santa Fe and was relieved the matter was settled.
