Convicted Men Begin Sentences From April Term
Twenty seven men convicted in the district criminal court during the April term ending June 30 have begun serving time in the penitentiary or county jail. Of 861 tried, nine acquitted and 27 sent up, with total sentences totaling 77 years. Notable cases include Al Fox jailed for four years over a worth less check and Dave Judy sentenced to two years for swindling. D I Davis received two and a half years in two car theft cases and escaped briefly. Verne Taylor, a negro woman, got two years for theft from person.
