The Protected Check Corporation of America introduces the invisible thumb endorsement plan sponsored by the Amarillo Credit Association to curb check fraud. More than 15 merchants have signed up as credit managers outline the program to firms, with Don Blatzheim leading the local check cashing service.

Amarillo Soldier Killed in Japan Training Incident
Pvt. John F. Barnes aged 19, an Amarillo native and former Esquire Theater assistant manager, died July 1 at Camp Hangen Honshu Japan during training. He had been in Japan since March and is survived by his parents Mrs E H Grubert San Antonio and E L Barnes Dallas three sisters Mrs Flowers Pat Barnes Alaska Dorothy Barnes of Alaska and a brother J W Barnes Kerrville plus grandmother Mrs W L Dugan Dumas and Mr and Mrs Jim Barnes McKinney.

County agents vocational agriculture teachers and others gathered at 1 pm for a field day at Amarillo Livestock Auction arena. Roy Snyder A L Smith and Tommy Thompson of Texas A&M demonstrated a USDA beef cattle grade classification. Art Bralley chaired with welcomes by J B Linn M T Johnson and J R Taylor. An illustrated talk on corral equipment and cattle breeds, a cattle type demonstration and grading demonstration followed, finishing with a roundtable led by Knox Parr.

Panhandle public hearing on fishing rules set
The Panhandle Outdoor Sportsmen's Club will host a public hearing on hunting and fishing regulations tomorrow at 7 30 PM at Sam Houston Park. The session covers Potter and Oldham counties with a key proposal to remove crappie bag and size limits in Panhandle waters. Paul V.
