Negro Soldier Marries White Woman at Clayton
In what may be the first negro white marriage in Union County, Eddie J. Jefferson a 24 year old negro stationed at Buckley Field Colorado and Pauline Mabel McIntyre 22 of China Me obtained a marriage license in Clayton New Mexico and were married by Rev Raymond Thomason a Baptist minister. Cattle prices climbed to new highs with steers at 22.75 per hundredweight in Chicago. A 1600 pound load set the top, 25 cents over the July 2 record. Bulldogs Attack Woman in Taylor Yard Incident
