Amarillo Air Reserves Seek Growth With Local Meeting
Jim Fletcher and Livine Crawford invite all Air Reserves in Amarillo to a 7 PM meeting at the Amarillo Hotel party room. About 40 to 50 locals in the 306th composite squadron of the 117th Air Force Base Unit at Tinker Field aim to mobilize 175 eligible men. The group backs a Tables of Organization and Equipment unit to be assigned to Amarillo with classroom and hangar space ready at the Army Air Field. A 1947 House bill to bolster the Army and Air Force Reserve classifies the corps into three combat service types. Type 2 would require a full officer cadre and enlisted personnel, with training one night every two weeks and a summer camp every three summers. Some pilots and techs may receive inactive duty pay during training under Army and Air Force standards. Members must complete mobilization assignments before flying Army aircraft. An A-26 is assigned to Tinker Field for reserve use.
