Nessler Sets Glider Record in 187 Mile Flight
Eric Nessler, national French champion, set a 187 mile record during the 14th National Soaring Meet at Wichita Falls. The flight from Sheppard Field to Palo Duro Canyon rim near Tulsa lasted five hours with 50 contestants in Texas and Oklahoma.

Funeral services for Miss Katy Dowty of Amarillo scheduled for tomorrow at Blackburn Shaw Memorial Chapel. Dowty, 37, died Sunday in DeQueen Arkansas after visiting there three months. Born in Franklin County in 1910, she moved to Amarillo around 1926. Survived by brother G R Dowty and three sisters Mrs Blythe Mrs G L Holbrook and Mrs J W Collins. Body to arrive in Amarillo today. burial in Memorial Park Cemetery.

Cornell Lab to televise Bikini atomic test effects
The Cornell Aeronautical Laboratory announced plans to develop underwater equipment to televise the effects of the Bikini atomic bomb test. A diver with a watertight remotely controlled camera will film beneath the surface and transmit images by wire to a shipboard screen amid a scientific re survey.
