Swampscott Mass July 7 President Coolidge advocates another broad tax cut focusing on income taxes. He urges joint action by the Ways and Means Committee and Treasury to maximize revenue while easing relief. He favors lowering the maximum surtax to at least 26 percent and considers 12 percent if feasible, and continues his call to greatly reduce or abolish the inheritance tax.
Shamrock contracts to play Amarillo American Legion in a two game series this Saturday and Sunday. Buck Britt, Shamrock manager, said the payroll deal secures top players like Slick Morgan for the doubleheader. Corpus Christi July 7 George Ryder of San Diego Texas died last night raising deaths to four from a pistol fight at a roadhouse. The other officers killed were Paul McAllister S M Bisbee and R B Bledsoe. Rufus MacMurray remains in critical condition. Causes of the affray remain unclear.
Van H Williams a 45 year old Dallas attorney faced arrest on a charge of padding checks when he killed himself in a El Paso hotel. He drank poison after an officer arrived to arrest him and his wife witnessed the scene. Williams planned to open law offices at Las Cruces New Mexico and had a brother in Dallas.
Boston July 7 The search to place blame for the Pickwick club hall collapse last Saturday continues as wreckers confirm all victims identified. The county grand jury questioned witnesses for sixteen hours and plans to resume the inquiry. Governor Fuller offered state aid and may appoint Attorney General Benton if facts remain unfounded.

Hobart testified she saw Miller at the carnival grounds and that he rode home in a car with her and Mary Anderson. Anderson said she thought she left the car but did not know what occurred and heard a report but did not know what it was.

Ernest Denney and six others face a temporary injunction in district court after A P McSwain accused them of conspiring to bar black buyers near the Santa Fe round house from building or moving on. McSwain seeks 10 000 damages plus 10 000 exemplary. Final hearing set for Thursday.
President Coolidge at White Court denies a New York paper story that he told Secretary Mellon to boost Coast Guard actions against rum running near Swampscott. He says the report is without foundation and he dislikes denying or confirming such stories.
Cincinnati Enquirer praised the Tri-State Field Trials, calling the Texas Panhandle ideal for sportsmen and predicting the event will become the world’s largest trials within a few years. It featured a half column on the favorable publicity and climate boosting Amarillo and the region.

In St. Thomas Ontario a Sunday school picnic boat disaster at Pinafore Lake left eight dead after two flat bottom boats carrying twenty seven children and a teacher capsized. The teacher Mrs Watts and seven pupils drowned with most bodies recovered by early today.
Rome July 7 Two famed Italian fencers Mario Siniscalco and Feliz Desimone fought a pistol duel over fencing skill. Desimone fired twice missing Siniscalco, who returned fire into the air. Honor satisfied the duel stopped and the fencers reconciled.
Texas Laundry Owners Association opens its annual convention at the municipal auditorium with 160 registrants at noon and more expected. Dr. C L Yates urges helpful service and friendship. speakers from across the Southwest address advertising, waste elimination, industry growth, and cooperation.
