Shamrock mourns pioneer businessman and golf enthusiast Benjamin Franklin Holmes at 63. Student Pilot Flies Plane Home After Bailout Lesson

At Randolph Field a student pilot failed to hear a bailout order during a tail spin drill. Lt Howard L Rust, 28, of Slippery Rock Pennsylvania, righted the plane and landed safely at the base. Lt Dwight Huntsman, 22, of Salt Lake City, was treated for back and foot wounds after the instructor bailed out. Rust had been a B 17 pilot in World War II.
