Lidia had lived in Amarillo since 1926 and held prior bank roles. married June 15 1927 to Warne Ondorff.
Samuel J. Gasway, 33, Amarillo truck driver, confessed to attacking a Pleasant Valley girl aged nine. Held in Lubbock on kidnapping rape and immoral purposes charges, he fears a death sentence. He was denied bond and admitted the assaults. He also faces Wichita Falls charges of burglary and assault with intent to murder.
Ray Wright 26 a Plainview pilot for Panhandle Spraying Company died when his crop dusting plane struck a power line and burned on the Fowler Brothers farm 20 miles southwest of Memphis. Survived by wife, child, and parents. body at Murphy Spicer Funeral Home.
The Czech government released US Air Force Lt. Luther G. Roland of Hummelstown Pennsylvania after a forced landing near Prague. Lt. Bjoern Johansen of Bergen Norway was freed on the same consent, with Johansen arriving in Copenhagen en route to Oslo. Roland was delivered to US authorities at the German Czech frontier around 11 AM.
Fine weather prevailed in the Panhandle as Independence Day observances began. Temperatures rose to 89 by afternoon with partly cloudy skies. Tomorrow’s high is forecast at 93 and tonight’s low at 68.
