Glass car draws crowds at Spikes-Truitt Pontiac showroom

More than 1500 people visited the Spikes-Truitt Pontiac Co showroom at 909 Tyler Street to see the plexiglas glass car and other World’s Fair exhibits. Arthur Truitt noted attendance likely surpassed 1500 with many visitors not receiving souvenir postcards. The event featured a depth perception test using safety sheet and plate glass to show vision differences, with cards distributed to test participants. The display, valued around 100000 dollars, travels from Amarillo to Wichita Falls under a General Motors partnership.

Billfold Lost in City Street Night Fray

A reddish brown billfold with propeller imprint on the front and leather laces disappeared on the night of June 16. It contained at least two identifications and a note references continuation on page 3.

Raymond Diaz Arm Amputated After Freight Yard Accident

Ten year old Raymond Diaz lost an arm when shoved under moving freight cars in Santa Fe yards near Tenth Avenue underpass. He was taken to Northwest Texas Hospital, where doctors amputated the arm about an hour after arrival. Police and Santa Fe officers investigate the incident.

E Neel Hurt In Auto Accident Near Farwell

E Neel aged 913 Mississippi Street suffered injuries but not serious when his car overturned on Highway 60 near Farwell. R D Gwin of Portales NM sustained several broken ribs and severe bruises. Clarence Gwin escaped injury as driver. Tire failure blamed. All treated at Memorial Hospital in Clovis NM.

Mayor Invited to California Fiesta in Santa Barbara

Mayor Joe Jenkins received an invitation to Old Spanish Days fiesta set for Aug. 7-9 in Santa Barbara. The personal invitation was presented by Opal Hadley of a Pacific Coast Hotels chain and came from Santa Barbara’s mayor. Hadley, a former Plainview girl, said she planned to travel from Amarillo to Plainview.

Car Overturns Twice In Gwin Arrival Accident

Mr. Gwin was to receive an automobile when the vehicle overturned twice, leaving the car practically demolished.
