102 Year Old Stays Put in Log Cabin Home

Jap Compromise With British at Tientsin Reported Impossible
A Japanese spokesman in Peiping said compromise with Britain at Tientsin was impossible and Japan might use force unless the British accepted demands from a Japanese dominated provisional government. The four demands include joint concession control and currency policy, inspection rights, and strict anti Japanese publications control. A British subject was assaulted at the British concession entrance and two other incidents raised tensions as anti British sentiment surged in Shansi Province and at the British mission.

Five Killed in Midland highway crash
Five Midland negroes died and 13 people were injured in a collision near Midland, Texas, involving three cars and a truck. R. C. Knight of Fort Worth, the most seriously hurt, was listed in fair condition. Knight’s wife and son, plus E N Knight and Mrs E N Knight, were passengers in his car. Clint Williams of Breckenridge drove the truck and was unhurt. Six of the injured were white.

Amarillo residents report dandelions bloom again as dry weather keeps them beneath turf. A. H. Post of Bozeman experiment station says spraying fall lawns with water white kerosene kills dandelions, a method tried on courthouse grounds but not completed. Trainmen Die in Crash With Rock
Three Louisville & Nashville freight crew members were killed when the locomotive struck a mountain boulder rolling onto the tracks. The rock, weighing at least 50 000 tons and measuring 75 by 30 by 15 feet, caused scalding steam to spray as the train between Links and Mt. Vernon in Rockcastle County, Kentucky, was derailed. Other crewmen in the caboose survived.
